IQflow Fitness Designer Furniture

"Designer fitness furniture" is not a term something one comes across often since seldom fitness equipment cross the design threshold successfully. However IQflow is changing this by launching what they claim is the world's "first fitness designer furniture". Angelo Makula, the inventor of IQflow who is also a renowned international artist decided to change this trend by meshing his artistic instincts with his passion for fitness. The IQflow workout unit is thus inspired by the tree which is the symbol of life. Available in different iterations including a wall mounted model, a free standing model and a rotatable room divide to fit any space, the unit is constructed from titanium, carbon, high-grade steel and aluminum. Occupying only 1 sqm of space (H190/W32/D29 cm) , the IQflow works out the whole human musculoskeletal system without looking hideous!

Fire Line Automatic Burner From Planika

As a somewhat purveyor of stunning contemporary fireplaces, imagine my excitement when I came across the Fire Line Automatic Burner from Planika. Blurring lines between function and form, the burner can be mounted on a wall, onto a shelf, or used as a see-through free-standing fireplace. UL compliant and CE certified, the Fire Line Automatic Burner has been equipped with a LED display which is remote operable. Unlike the quintessential fireplace, the Fire Line Automatic Burner has been specifically designed for urban living spaces and has a unique ornamental quality to it. Don't be fooled by the aura of fragility around it since it is shock-proof and CO2 sensitive and will react to any seismic activity.

King Louis Tables Bring Cardboard to the... Table

It's not everyday that you'd think about getting yourself a pair of King Louis Tables, but considering the amazing design behind these particular creations, you should definitely give them a look. The King Louis Tables are made out of cardboard by combining a 3D computer with CNC processing. The King Louis Tables, like other pieces of furniture we've seen here in the past, are made of cardboard, so they might not last as long as you imagine, nor will they be as durable as a regular table. But they're definitely an interesting concept design, and one that can only remind us what an important role technology plays when it comes to all aspects of our life, furniture design included. The King Louis Tables are part of the Traditionally Worn Collection by Gareth Neal and the rest of the collection is available at the Via link. Via Gareth Neal

Starlight Lamp Offers LED Stars to Sleep Under

It's not every night that you get to sleep under the stars, especially with all this snowing going on, is it? But if you love the sky and the stars then why not recreate it all in your own bedroom? Using the Starlight Lamp you can now do that as this bedside table comes with a polygonal structure that has 126 LED lights, or shall we call them stars, embedded into it. What's more interesting is that the polygonal structure can be moved around and bent according to your needs so your starlight sky can be customized each night. And while it's definitely understandable that you'd want to use this particular night lamp for yourself, think of your children first, as this could be the perfect night light source for their rooms too. Check & Oblique Shelf By BUILT IN Studio

Brooklyn based design firm BUILT IN Studio have managed to resurrect the hackneyed shelf by showing a penchant towards unique geometrical shapes. Both their Check Shelf and Oblique Shelf don't adhere to the traditional linear shapes one usually associates with wall shelves and hence here lies it strength. Each shelf is nothing short of a sculptural archetype in furniture but still hasn't managed to alienate its primordial properties. Both shelves have are hand-made of solid American hardwoods and are finished with a low VOC polyurethane that seem to further highlight the exaggerated shape of the shelves.

1000 Belts Bench Is Not As Comfortable As It Is Ingenious

We've seen our fair share of bench designs but this one is probably one of the most ingenious custom made benches. The 1000 Belts Bench is actually made of 1000 belts so don't expect it to be that comfortable in the first place. And just to make things a little more interesting the 1000 Belts Bench has two separate parts: one ends with a "belt buckle" coffee table while the other one ends with a bull head that's made from, you guessed it, belts, and then some chair parts. The 1000 Belts Bench is definitely something not recommended for your home's seating solutions but could work great in a public area of some sort. The 1000 Belts Bench can be easily taken apart and stored away as it is made of various independent sections. And if you need a different belt each day then this Belts Bench has enough of them to last you for three years. Via Hong Tao Zhou

TON's Floating Buddha Is A 23 Karat Gold Speaker

he serenity that surrounds the Floating Buddha is palpable and the numinous vibe it emits unmistakable. Conceptualized by TON, the Floating Buddha is not just a piece of sculpture representing a spiritual and moral order. In fact, housed discreetly between the Buddha and the box are a set of speakers that can disburse sound and can by used to playback enchanting Buddhist chants or any soothing music. The illusion of the Buddha floating on a bed of light is achieved by invisible acrylic rods that sit on top of an inverted base covered in 23k gold leaf and the two lights pointing at the bottom of the Buddha and on to the internal golden pyramid which contains the four 5" speakers. The 23-karat gold Floating Buddha interprets spirituality in its own experimental way and showcases how art transcends religions, cultures and geographical boundaries.

Cristalplant Based Origami Bathtub Series By Stocco

Stocco an Italian based company has left me completely breathless with their Origami Bathtub Series. Inspired by the Japanese art of paper folding, the bathtub series embraces the same principles of delicacy and re-imagines the ancient art beautifully. Unlike traditional bathtubs, the Origami series is characterized by its stunning base which can be etched, carved or even pantograph-drawn with a medley of intricate patterns that lend an air of sophistication to the classic archaic design. The side which can be carved or etched is made of Cristalplant which is easy to maintain and found to be more hygienic than conventional materials. With the Origami Bathtub Series, Stocco has prodded the traditional artistic practices of Japan flawlessly and made them completely relevant to the modern design scene.
